Ahh, Paradise

Ahh, the warm sands of Point Pleasant, New Jersey, linger still between my toes:

New Jersey beach sand,
cleaner than I remember,
ashtray no longer.

The family got to frolic in the turbid Atlantic this afternoon, along a stretch of private beach (no one told us to leave). Not a bad way to spend a day.

Pizza in shore points of New Jersey has a character unlike most other spots in the country. It must be a blend of influences from NYC and Philly (and the local Italians and Sicilians). Pizza Hut, Papa John's, and Dominos all pale in comparison, capice.

Ah, Point Pleasant! Best Pizzas on the Jersey Shore was called (I think) "Three Brothers' Pizza" and was owned by a trio of Irishmen! LOL!

Personally, I am a bit partial to Island Beach State Park. I actually have relatives in Point Pleasant, too.

So dat's what it's like in Joizy. As a Canadian I love the Eastern Seaboard, esp the part around Jones Beach and the clam chowder at the end of the pier. Is that Joizy or Noo Yokk?

If I offend, please forgive...I am feeling playful as I read your blog, and enjoy it as always.

Meadowbook Parkway south until you hit the ocean, on Long Island. Voila, Jones Beach. Yeah, it's in New Yawk, thus doesn't qualify as Joisee.

Though I spent 8 years of my youth in New England, I never did acquire the jones for clam chowder, nor any other culinary abomination involving those chewy boogers in a shell, aka 'clams'.

Another 8 years was spent in northeast Philly, where I got my taste for pizza, hoagies, Tastee Kake, and marginal sports teams.

In the ten years I've been in Nebraska, I've morphed into Husker, but with odd tastes.

Ah yes the jersey shore, fond memories of melanoma-inducing sun burns, being crushed by the waves, and the ubiquitous trash in the sands including unmentionable plastic objects.
My dad took us to Point pleasant every summer just for the day. we lived in North Jersey and it took forever to get there.

Mmmm, I absolutely LOVE PIZZA!

If I'm ever that way, I'll be sure to pop into the Point!
